These past 4 years without you have been such a turning point in my life. I have laughed and cried alike. My love will always be so strong for you. The past couple months have been really a struggle, my family has come upon hard times and most unfortunate events. I listen to your soul through your music and I know you would beleive in me and give me the strength to make it through.. I love you Papa and I never stop dreaming of you..

I played harmonica for Al from 1979 to 1987, and that time is still the best I ever had making music. Al was not only a great musical influence for me, but he demonstrated every day what it took to be a Man. I was talking with him about bringing him to Western NC the spring of 2005 and one day in July he did not answer the phone. I miss you man. I am fighting lung cancer now and you are still an inspiration to me. Tom

Please add one other type of music that Big Al had deep in his soul. That would be Beach Music. I heard him in the 80's on the beach. He was introduced to me by DJ Charlie Byrd.

I met Al when I was the program director of Country WMZQ in Washington DC. I came across Mr. Jones on Napster and remembered a wonderful, joyful, fun loving man. He was a big hit in DC and I was sad to hear he passed. He was truly a great entertainer that deserved more recognition than he recieved.

I had the pleasure of seeing Al perform in 1975 when I was a Senior in HS. What a powerful voice and captivating person. Al was friends with my mom and dad from years before, I can only say that I am truly happy to have had the chance to meet and know him. He was and is a great person, kind compassionate and a wonderful performer.
The world is sadder without him him, but at least we still have his music.
