Hello friends and family of Big Al Downing. Dixie Harrison and I did some shows with him and Dixie and Al recorded a song I wrote, "Dirty Lies". It was raecorded in Nashville during Fan Fair (1987). Yesterday Dixe found the tape of the duet and it was a big thrill to hear them together once again.
Al was a friend and we talked by phone a few times as Al didn't have an email address. I always like to see his music being played out there these days and I am a dj at www,roycost.com .

I first heard Mr. Downing when i was a young boy, and fell in love with his music. He played in Houma , La sometime in the 70's at a political rally for a man running for sheriff. I want to say I'm sadden at the Passing of a wonderful entertainer. .Tha man should be inducted in the country music hall of fame IMMEDIATLY!! God bless Mr Downing and all his family.

As some of the others have said, I wasn't aware that Big Al had passed away. I'm truly saddened to hear that. I've enjoyed his music for years, and he was one of my favorite country music artists. He will be missed, but fortunately he left a great legacy of music behind that we can still enjoy.
