Al Downing was one of the true greatest country singers of all time. I grew up listening to country music and my dad would always call for me when Mr. Jones was on the radio. This world was a better place because of Big Al Downing being in it. America lost a true legend but heaven gained an angel voice to sing for God. Take Care Big Al and thank you for making this world a better place to live in.

Thanks Al, You and Charley Pride both proved "Country Music" isn't white. I thank you for your contribution to Country and miss your style very much, Good music is hard to come by these days. But you left us all a great legacy with your music. Thankyou.

Big Al was a neighbor of mine in Northern Virginia....heck of a nice who always encouraged my music...Years later I got a hold of his address via his step-son...I wrote him a letter telling him how much his help meant to me and that we were looking forward to going to his show at the Norva...The letter didn't reach him in time...a day late...

Big Al is a true role model. In a time when heroes are being self proclaimed, it was an honor to have been friends with Steven and spend several weekends being served and loved by Big Al. He help me through tough times by his willingness to be genuine unselfish man.
I love you brother.
