As an old radio man I always enjoyed playing Big Al's music especially "Darlene" and since my last name is Jones, "Mr Jones" was my favorite Big Al recording...What a great song. Rest in peace Mr Downing i know your family and friends miss you

i didn't know Big Al passed away, i'm so sorry. He was a great talent, i loved all his music but MR. JONES really touched my heart. It took me so many years to find that song, i never got to see him in concert, but i always wish i could have. A true fan always, Alberta Vanwinkle

Big Al was one singer who touched me so that I still sing his songs today.
My kids ask. Who sang that? I tell them the ONE AND ONLY Big Al Downing
Wish I could thank him for his works.

Big Al came into my life when I was 5 years old, officially became my step-father when I was in the 6th grade, and I looked to him as a mentor and friend until the day he died. I simply cannot recall all the times he made me (us) laugh and force us to look at the brighter side of life. He is missed!!
